As Heard On ROCK

Aura will be here soon!

Aura (formerly the Asylum) at 121 Center St. in Portland will be opening soon after almost two years of construction and planning. The new facility will house a concert venue that will seat 1,000, a sports bar that is currently open, functions rooms that can be used for many things from holiday parties to wedding receptions and more.

This is a photo of the stage and it is a monster!

As we walked through Aura we had safety glasses and hard hats on due to construction but you could really see what an unbelievable state-of-the-art venue this will be soon.

Here is a photo of the stage looking down from the balcony area. The sightlines will be like no other venue in the state. Not a bad seat in the house!

Another amazing feature of Aura will be the state-of-the-art sound and lighting system designed by Alex Gray.

Many shows have already been booked at Aura and here is a list of what is scheduled through June 8th. There will be many more announced soon.

A band re-records Metallica's St Anger album song for song

Opinions have always remained sharply divided when it comes to Metallica's St Anger album. Some people like it, but many people loathe it, mostly because of its horrible production (not to mention Lars' terrible drum sound).

With that in mind, some guys from two relatively unknown bands (Grace The Skies and Adust) decided to re-record the album in its entirety, but with better production. You can listen to the whole thing below. What do you think? Better, worse, or a waste of time?

Sammy Hagar says record business is kind of done

Interesting interview with Sammy Hagar. He was asked about the possibility of another Chickenfoot album (the band featuring Sammy, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers), but said probably not, because records don't sell anymore.
